Beth was out near the wall, perched up high so nothing could get to her except the rain. She was keeping an eye out for any other new arrivals, since she knew from experience it wasn't any fun to have to find a way into the city on your own in the middle of the rain. She thought she saw someone slowly approaching through the trees, and used her earpiece to let Daryl and Glenn know she was going over the wall to help someone. She had a knife on her now and felt confident enough to be able to defend herself and whoever else was out there.
It wasn't until she got closer that she realized who the newcomer looked like, and it was with hope that she picked up her pace to as much of a run as she could manage with all the mud. She knew that this was potentially a bad idea, given what Daryl had told her about her dying and being buried. But if Rick was here, he'd need guidance to the city, and he'd have to find a way to look past the fact she ought to be dead. Whatever fluke in time that had happened here, it was a gift to her and the people she had claimed as her family. Rick would be shocked, same as Daryl had been, she was sure. But she couldn't just leave him out here by himself in order to spare him the surprise.
"Rick!" She called out his name as she neared in closer, grinning as she hurried even more. With the both of them running, it didn't take long for them to quite literally crash right into each other. Beth fell back into the mud with the recoil, but was quick to hop up and reach up to grab hold of his hand.
"The gates to the city are close. Right this way, come on!" She looked behind him and realized that some of the faster moving infected were on their way toward them. It was definitely time to run faster.
