The look she gave him was one she gave Frank when she didn't want to go through the effort of arguing or telling him that she was going to be stubborn. It was a smile that could've been patronizing, if she didn't have warmth and humor in her eyes. People were always amusing to her, especially the ones who were strong enough to take charge and be a leader. It took a special kind of person to do that, and an even more spectacular one to do it successfully.
