What happens to a character ICly when they're dropped?

EDIT: Not trying to rush you guys on purpose, but with Athena's drop, I would really like to know the answer to this. If they just disappear or whatever it ends up being. Of the three drops, her leaving is the one Daryl is going to notice immediately on an IC level.
